What Is CBD?

CBD is among the 200 active chemical compounds found in the cannabis Sativa, the same plant that marijuana and hemp are derived from. Unlike other products, CBD does not contain psychoactive properties. Thus, it will not give you a “high.” According to WHO (World Health Organization) and other researchers, there is no evidence that this product has been abused or cause serious side effects. Instead, it has been credited for treating numerous medical conditions such as stress, pain, anxiety, insomnia.

Before we begin, according to New Poll’s survey, 14 percent of the people who consumed CBD used the ingestible form, 11 percent applied it as a cream, while 13 percent used ingestible and topical forms. Oral consumption is a suitable method of taking CBD in terms of popularity, because you can mix them with your favorite drink or food. Really, it is a personal choice and what works best for you.

Nevertheless, different people consume CBD for variety of reasons.  Here are three common health conditions where CBD may be proven beneficial:

Physical Pain

CBD contains anti-inflammatory compounds that work on pain-sensing systems for pain relief. According to the research, many people use CBD to relieve pain in their bodies. It affects the receptors in the brain that help to manage symptoms caused by:

  • Muscle pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Arthritis

When the receptors receive signals from various stimuli, they help the cells to respond, creating a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect.

Anxiety

Anxiety can cause severe issues in your body. For example, you can experience a rapid heart rate, chest pain, heart diseases, and high blood pressure. If you are concerned about anxiety medication that doesn’t cause side effects, CBD is a good solution.

CBD affects the way your brain's receptors respond to the mental health chemical called serotonin. The receptors receive a chemical message to help your cells respond to various stimuli. The research showed that there is strong evidence to treat anxiety with CBD products.

Stress

Living with stress can contribute to health issues such as diabetes, obesity, and heart diseases. But do you know that CBD can help you to manage stress without affecting your brain? Nevertheless, people make the mistake of confusing CBD with other products like THC that contains psychoactive properties. It is good to note that CBD lacks those properties. Instead, it has a mind-altering molecule that helps to cool your mind anytime you have stress.

CBD will not change your state of mind when in use. Instead, it produces a change in your body that shows some health benefits. It interacts with cannabinoid receptors to manage pain, movement, and memories. The good thing is that the users can reap the benefits without getting high.

Nowadays, the interest for CBD as a therapy for medical benefits is growing. Although FDA has approved only one CBD product, the unapproved ones are legal in some states. That’s why it is good to research about the local laws regarding this drug. It is good to note that many manufacturers are coming up with different types of CBD.

That’s why many states have passed regulations to ensure that the products sold in their state have strict testing and labeling of ingredients contained in CBD products, however, not all states have done so.

Because of this, it is necessary to read the product label before making a purchasing decision. But don’t assume that every ingredient indicated on the label is natural. If you don’t understand the ingredients, it is good to ask the seller or perform research.
